Needlepoint Stamped Canvases
There are many ways you can start needlepoint. You can choose to start with pre-worked pieces, stamped designs, hand-painted designs or kits. We will briefly describe each needlepoint starting point, then we will highlight the stamped designs available at Arts Crafts USA.
- Pre-worked Pieces. This is a needlepoint project where the design has already been outlined by a skilled artist. You need to only fill the background. Many find this type of needlepoint relaxing and enjoyable.
- Hand-Painted Designs. Hand-painted designs cost much more than pre-worked or stamped needlepoint designs. In a stitch-painted canvas, the design is painted by an artist who does needlepoint, so each intersection of the fabric mesh is painted exactly the way the artist intended it to be stitched. There are no decisions to be made and no compensation for design errors common with needlepoint stamped designs.
- Stamped Designs. A stamped design is pressed on to a piece of black canvas by machine or by hand press. When the straight lines of the design line-up accurately with the canvas threads – or the mesh – the registration is considered good. Sometimes such patterns do not line-up properly and some colors overlap or some spaces are left blank. This means that you must compensate for these errors. the needlepoint artist.
This section highlights the needlepoint stamped designs we have available at Arts Crafts USA. In the following months we hope to create a section dedicated to hand-painted designs.
